We hope y’all had a Happy New Years!
So what are we looking forward to?
1. Battery improvements! We have been hearing for years about new, “super” batteries that are stronger, can last longer, are lighter, and dare we hope cheaper… Let’s hope that mobility scooter users can start seeing some of the stunning gains that have been made already in smaller devices such as cell phones, laptops, and mp3 players!
2. Stronger scooter frames. Like it or not, most of us are getting larger (but wiser!) as we age and many of us need to bring a number of other items with us on the scooter that all contribute to the weight. It is time scooter makers started to accept this in their design and construction. 300lbs should be the new minimum weight capacity for most models.
3. More legroom and more comfortable seats for scooters. We spend a lot of time in these scooters, it should be an “Experience” to operate one! There is no reason why an electric scooter can not be exciting to look at, fun to operate and comfortable to be in!
4. More lift options in the home. Lift furniture is just now really starting to gain popularity, and not just for chairs! Expect to start seeing many more lift devices incorporated into all types of furniture, from TV stands to tables.
5. More Lift Commode options. This is a real puzzler, we all use the bathroom, and many of us will at some point benefit from a device that helps us keep our independence, so why are there so few choices when it comes time to find a reasonably priced Commode Lift? Sure there are plenty of $1000+ options, but we need more strong, durable, shower usable, lift commodes in the $300-$600 range.
Feel free to add your ideas for improvements in these products for 2009!
We will go out there and try to find them, then bring them back here for your review!
